Community Trust Player Visits 2023

30 October 2023

Oldham Athletic Community Trust have had a busy summer with player engagements, and have plans for many more over the coming months.

Over the summer, we managed to get 11 first team players to visit our soccer school across the summer holidays to see all our attendees!

We then kickstarted the 2023/24 school year and have hosted numerous Premier League Primary Stars Education Activations with the help of the first team players coming along visiting schools with us.

We started with a visit too Royton Hall Primary school in September with Ben Tollitt and Nathan Sheron. During their visit they spoke with the Year 5 and 6 students where they welcomed lots of questions about themselves and their football journeys as well as Mental Resilience and what it means to start a new adventure, such as joining a new team or starting at a new school.

The following week we went too Whitegate End Primary with Mike Fondop and Shaun Hobson which was then followed up by a trip to Willowpark a week later both Mathew Hudson and Charlie Raglan. The last Education Activation of September was a trip to Woodlands Primary Academy with Hallam Hope and Will Sutton. All the visits focused on themes set out by the schools which are relevant to topics being taught at the time of the visit, always relating it back to being relevant for the pupils learning and development.

We then made the most of the rest of half term as we started October with a trip up to Delph Primary School with Mike Fondop and Josh Lundstram. You can see highlights of their visit below.

Brennan Dickenson and Kieron Freeman went to St Edwards primary school the following week and then ended the first half term of education activations at Hodge Clough Primary school with Magnus Norman and Joe Nuttall.

We then celebrated the October Soccer School with a player appearance from Alex Reid, Mark Kitchen and James Norwood who came to see our footballers and join them for quick kick about and to sign some items for all the children.

We look forward to hosting more player visits and PLPrimaryStar education activations throughout the next half term and the rest of 2023, which will include our annual hospital visit and Junior Latics event, where more details will be shared in the coming weeks!
