Last week, OACT hosted our first Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament of 2022 at Kick Sonic with 5 local primary schools!
On a crisp January Friday morning, 5 local primary schools joined us at Kick Sonic for a football tournament between year 3 & 4 pupils.
Woodlands Primary Academy, Willowpark Primary Academy, Friezland Primary School, Werneth Primary Academy and St Matthews CofE participated in the tournament with all schools having a great morning out of school, keeping physically active and speaking to new children across different schools being respectful and forming new friendships.
We spoke to Werneth Primary Academy Principal, Jonathan Bell and he said "This is the first opportunity our pupils have had to play in a tournament so its a huge chance for them to represent the school and just have some fun with their friends after the last 20 months they've had. They have absolutely loved taking part!"
Kimberly Leigh, from Friezland Primary School said; "With everything we've all been through the past 2 years, and the pupils not getting out to school events so they have been so excited this week! It means so much to them, its all they been talking about in the playground, their behaviour has improved in school because they've been so focused on practising for the tournament with their football and celebrations!"
Our School Engagement Manager, Emily Ashworth said: "It was great to kickstart our 2022 Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournaments with Year 3 & 4 pupils across 5 of our local primary schools. We really enjoyed welcoming the schools to Kick Sonic for the tournament and it was fantastic to see the pupils mix with pupils from other schools showing respect and kindness to their peers. Thank you to all the teachers, pupils and schools for attending and making the first tournament an amazing experience."
