This week Oldham Athletic Community Trust supported E-ACT Royton & Crompton as the academy delivered Christmas food hampers to elderly residents within the local community.

Thanks to kind donations from Oldham Athletic supporters at the Barnet fixture, OACT were able to contribute a considerable amount of food to go alongside the collection's efforts of academy staff and pupils, which saw thousands of food items collected by pupils & staff at Royton and Crompton.

The distribution of Christmas food hampers has become an academy tradition, which over the years has helped hundreds of local elderly residents over the years.

Several students assisted on the day, which provided them with the opportunity to meet the local residents and wish them a Merry Christmas:

Alfie: “It was really fun despite it being really cold, but we would do anything to help out the community. It was really fun surprising people and seeing the warm smile on their faces when we gave them the food.”

Wahidullah: “I was really excited to help out and give out the hampers to the people who needed them. It was really good to see the smile on people's faces and giving them the Christmas hampers. There was that many hampers that we needed to take the academy minibus, which shows just how much the pupils & staff care about the local community”.

Rebecca: “I enjoyed the smile on people's faces, it really warmed up my heart.”

Such a fantastic initiative and great opportunity to give something back to our local community and to also wish them a Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year
